Much to be Thankful for

Two years ago, on Thanksgiving day, we visited Nina at her orphanage. It was the second time we had seen her, but the first official meeting where we were encouraged to interact with her. We had a good visit that day. After our visit, Andy and I were taken back to Kiev, and Nina went back to her room.

In her room, Nina played with her best friend. Another little girl with Cerebral Palsy, and the closest thing she had ever had to a family. Two little orphan girls that liked to play ball and talk to each other.

Two years later, and Nina and Oksana got to spend Thanksgiving day together once more. This time around, they are orphans no more. They have a family! And like Oksana said, we had a feast!

We have so much to be Thankful for.

Oksana's family is here for a few days, and we are loving having them here! We have great fun plans for the next few days.

As soon as I get a chance, I will share some pictures here! It is great to see them together, and our families just get along so well!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And for some of you...enjoy the crazy shopping!

  1. What an amazing Thanksgiving story.
I came across your blog as IDSC for life posted some of your links on facebook.
We have two adopted girlies, our youngest (two weeks old today) has Down syndrome.
I loved reading through your thoughts as you got the diagnoses and how God worked on your heart through it all. Thanks for being so open and honest.

  4. What a blessing for two orphans to have a connection between their old world and their new world. That will be so valuable to them as they grows and seek to develop their self-identity. Blessings!
