So here is our bedtime routine in pictures for the girls that cannot read yet and because pictures are fun!
1. Eat vitamins
2. Pick up play-room
3. Put jamies on
4. Put dirty clothes in laundry basket
5. Go potty
6. Wash hands
7. Brush teeth
8. Get in bed
Once in bed, I read the girls a story and we pray together.
Note: When I did this with Ellie a few years back it really worked! So much so that she has actually stuck to the bedtime routine even after I stopped reinforcing it. Routines really work with kids! Especially when there are pictures and they participate at creating them.
If you are wondering what this is about, it is a result of wanting to live intentionally, you can go back and read more about that.
I am curious, what is the bedtime routine like at your house?
Bath (we brush in the tub), the kids read quietly until everyone is out of the tub (yep all three take a bath together), family story time, prayers, we sing our good night song, and lights out.
ReplyDeleteIt works for us with little ones. I know I'll have to revamp our routine when they get a little older.
Do your kids take a bath every night? And things do change as they get older, they really do.
DeleteIn the summer, the kids need a bath almost every day, but sometimes swimming in the pool counts as a bath lol. We have a similar routine to what you do. I would like to read to them every night, but it doesn't always happen. Daddy always prays with them.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick thought..I also take the Juiceplus vitamins and I have to take them in the morning, as they cause very bad heartburn if I lay down soon after having them. This may not be a problem for your girls, but I thought I would mention it. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting, no, none of us have any problems with that at all, and we all take them at night. I think in general vitamins are supposed to be taken in the morning, but it just works better with our routine to take them at night.
