Help Me Improve My Blogging
By
Ellen Stumbo
I know I am not the best blogger. To be honest, I have struggled to find my niche. The thing is, I consider myself a writer, not a blogger, yet blogging is about writing. This is my personal blog, but my life is not interesting enough for you to keep coming back if I don;t have anything to offer.
So I have a big favor to ask, would you consider taking the time to answer some questions and help me out figure out this blogging thing I do?
1. Why do you read my blog? What keeps you coming back?
2. If you were to describe my blog to a friend, what would you say?
3. What topics are the ones where you see my best writing?
4. What topics are of the most interest to you?
5. If you could give me one piece of advice to improve my blog, what would it be?
I really appreciate that you are here and that you read my words and therefore I want to create content that makes you want to keep coming back.
In advance, thanks for answering my questions and helping me out.

I read your blog because you inspires me, the love, care, dedication that you show to your children and to ur husband is so great.
ReplyDeleteI love reading when u talk about Nina, i am a physical therapist and it reminds me of my internship years when i took care of kids with CP. i can relate.
When u talk about ur weaknesses, i can relate too for i have my own share of ups and downs.
Thank you for your kind and encouraging words Sherene.
DeleteBeing a PT is one of those "dreams" I have (my list is long) but I do not think it would be fair for my girls to have me go back to school since I know it is a demanding career and schooling. At least I get to be one at home!
I personally think that a blog should be about what is on the writer's heart. When the writer starts trying to please the readers, the blog becomes less interesting.....
ReplyDeleteHowever, I enjoy reading your posts about your day-to-day life. Simply because I too have children and I enjoy reading about other families and their joys and struggles. You are a gifted writer, so you can make an interesting post out of any little thing :-) I also enjoy reading about Nichole and Nina, since I myself have very little contact with people with special needs. I want to learn and understand better!
Thanks Milena, I really appreciate your perspective and I am so glad that at least here you have some "contact" with people that have disabilities :)
Deletei love reading your blog because i also adopted a little girl with CP and can relate to much of what you write. i also like your honesty and how open you are about special needs. i also love how you've opened my eyes to the beauty in brokenness. thank you for continuing to share your story with the world! you are an inspiration. you can read our story at: www.welcomeblessings.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteWell Christina, I just spent a long time reading through your blog and I think the word "inspiration" fits you a lot more times than it fits me. You are absolutely incredible and I hope we can keep in touch (as I am now following your blog).
DeleteWell as someone who loves you and loves your family I enjoy the posts you do that share your day to day life and your heart. I enjoy hearing your perspective on things like mothering, being a wife, special needs etc. I also enjoy seeing what your girls are doing. Ellie always makes me smile with her creativity and joy, she is amazing! I adore Nichole's combination of stunning beauty and rascally ways ;). And Nina inspires everyone who reads your blog. Her progress has astounded us all. Don't think too hard about it. You are a smart, talented, wonderful woman with an amazing family. That makes blogging pretty easy ;)!
ReplyDeleteWell thank you friend, I like you that much right back.
DeleteWell, as a relative, I come to your blog mostly to check in and see how your family is doing. But I like with Milena says that a blog should be about what is on your heart, and what Erin said about enjoying the posts about your day-to-day life. It's always encouraging to read about what you're going through and your honest emotions as you do. I love hearing about your struggles with laundry and wondering about your identity and what to do with the ants in your yard. Even if your specific struggle is different than mine, when I read your heart, I am encouraged and blessed. So keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks Marcia, hopefully beyond being family, even as an editor you think I am doing okay with my writing :)
Deletei enjoy reading blogs about everyday people living their lives..I read for inspiration, ideas and stories. We all have a story to tell, you might not think its that interesting but it will speak to someone, inspire someone, encourage them..its your story!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. You are right, we all have our own story.
DeleteI like hearing about a normal family with different special needs and adoption topics. I like learning about what it takes/ how your family makes it work with these needs and thus it makes it less foreign. I enjoy seeing the progress your girls make, including Ellie. Mrs Y
ReplyDeleteOh I like that "a normal family with different special needs." Yes, we are normal, too normal actually, probably boring even ;)
